What is an Endowment?
An endowment is a fund whose principal is not spent.  Only the income from investments is harvested

Contributions of every size, whether cash, real estate and securities, build a sound endowment.  Your gift today will benefit generations to come. 

The Sioux City Public Schools Foundation collaborates with the Siouxland Community Foundation regarding the four (4) endowed funds listed below.

If you are interested in learning more and/or would like to take advantage of the Endow Iowa Tax Credits, and/or would like to donate via stock or real estate, please contact the Siouxland Community Foundation at 712-293-3303.

1. Sioux City Public Schools Foundation Endowment - Established in 2007, this fund furthers the educational purposes and activities of the Sioux City Community School District in Sioux City, Iowa.

2. Lego Fund for Teachers Grants - Mrs. Wendy Lego taught 36 years at Crescent Park Elementary.  Mrs. Lego treasured her books as much as her students.  After her passing in 2018, Mrs. Lego's husband, Brad, established the Lego Fund for Teachers Grants.  The fund annually awards three (3) new teachers a $100 gift certificate to build their libraries. 

3. Music Participation Endowment - An anonymous donor established the music participation endowed fund.  The funds exclusive charitable purpose is to provide support to enable low-income Sioux City, Iowa, public school children and their families the opportunity to participate in both instrumental and choral music programs, including individual instruction. 

4. Windeshausen Scholarship Fund - The donors established this fund for the exclusive purpose of providing scholarships to assist graduating high school seniors within the Sioux City Community School District, at West High School, in their pursuit of a post-secondary education with an emphasis in education.
